We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team of dental professionals. As a Dental Hygienist at Dr. Nick’s White and Healthy, you will play a vital role in assisting our dentists during a variety of procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients.
Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for oral health and patient care, strong communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role involves working closely with dentists to provide comprehensive preventative and therapeutic dental care, educate patients on oral hygiene, and promote overall dental health.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care and Assessment
- Greet and prepare patients for dental exams and treatments.
- Review and update medical history and perform oral health assessments.
- Conduct preliminary oral exams to identify issues and assess overall oral hygiene.
- Take and process dental radiographs (x-rays) as needed.
- Preventative Care and Treatment
- Perform professional teeth cleaning, scaling, and root planing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
- Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluorides to help protect teeth.
- Monitor and assess periodontal health, documenting findings for the dentist.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, such as brushing, flossing, and diet.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with the dentist on treatment plans and oral care strategies.
- Discuss patient care, observations, and recommended treatments with the dental team.
- Document all patient interactions, findings, and treatments provided in electronic or paper health records.
- Patient Education and Advocacy
- Educate patients and families about oral hygiene, cavity prevention, and periodontal health.
- Provide guidance and answer questions to help patients maintain their oral health at home.
- Encourage and support patients in building sustainable oral hygiene habits.
- Instrument Sterilization and Infection Control
- Ensure all dental tools, instruments, and equipment are sterilized and prepared for each patient.
- Follow infection control protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Maintain the cleanliness of work areas and dispose of waste according to safety guidelines.
- Continuing Education and Professional Development
- Stay current with best practices, advancements in dental hygiene, and state-specific regulations.
- Attend continuing education courses, seminars, and conferences as required.
